Dubai Sports Council to organize five–a–side football competition for women, Friday 31st Aug. 2018 at 03:30 pm at Koora Dome in Al-Wasl Sports Club, as part of the UAE's celebrations on the occasion of the Emirati Women's Day, launched by H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, President of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood.
The competition to be contested by eight teams. In preliminary stage, participating teams to be classified into two groups, while final stages to be played via knockout system. The competition's matches will be run by local female referees, accredited by the UAE Football Association.
The door of registration is open for football teams, taking into account that each team should contain 3 local females including goalkeeper. Participating teams are allowed to register local female players, who are affiliated in the UAE Football Association. Each team is allowed to register maximum 12 players, five of whom to participate in matches while the other seven players to remain as reserves.
Total timing of each match is 25 minutes, 10 minutes for each half. In case two teams tie in a draw in any of the knock-out stage matches, then the matter will be judged through penalty–shootout.
Three players, who are locals, born in the country or hold Comoros Passport, should participate simultaneously during the match. Any female player who is substituted in a match will not be allowed to rejoin the match again.
This competition, to be organized for the first time, is one of the most eminent events in the agenda of the Woman & Sport Committee.
The Committee targets all ladies of various ages & different job categories.
Huge number of women are attracted to participate in the remarkable events of the Woman & Sport Committee; comprising female students, employees & housewives, aiming to qualify promising female athletes and to make them competent enough to supply clubs & national teams and attain titles & achievements in various sports fields.
The Woman & Sport Committee's agenda for 2018 – 2019 comprises several events & programs; among which are: the Future Female Coach Program, held to qualify local female players and help them to be competent to lead women teams in clubs / Dubai Summer Sports Camp for Girls, arranged last month with massive participation & remarkable success.
It is worth-mentioning that Sheikha Hind Women's Sports Tournament, scheduled upcoming Oct., is the greatest event in the Woman & Sport Committee's agenda.
The Woman & Sport Committee will also organize the 2nd edition of Dubai Women Triathlon on 9th Nov. 2018. Participating ladies in this triathlon to contest tough 50 km race in swimming, cycling & running and will be classified into three categories; these are: Super Sprint, Sprint & Accredited Olympic Distance.
