Dubai Sports Council's Board convened its 33rd meeting, chaired by H.E. Mattar Al-Tayer, the Deputy Chairman of DSC, in the presence of H.E. Saeed Hareb, the Secretary General of DSC and the other Board's members; these are: Mr. Mohammed Al-Kamali, Mr. Khalid Ali Bin Zayed, Mr. Ahmed Al-Shaafar, Mr. Yousuf Ahmed Redha, Mr. Salah Amin, Ms. Moza Al-Marri, Ms. Maryam Al-Hammadi and Mr. Anas Bu Khash.
The meeting was also attended by H.E. Naser Aman Al-Rahma, the Assistant Secretary General of DSC / Mr. Saleh Al-Marzouqi, Director of Support Corporate Dept. in DSC.
The meeting has ratified results of the 1st “Hamdan Bin Mohammed Order of Merit for Sports Education School", launched by DSC to boost & popularize the culture of the exercise of sports in educational institutions as a fundamental activity that helps students to enjoy healthy & happy life and scout promising sports talents. The Order of Merit to be awarded to the best governmental school & the best private school, as per DSC's evaluation; based on the following factors: exercise of sport 40% / health awareness 30% / infrastructure 15% / school management competence & efficiency 15%. All these evaluation factors comprise detailed standards, according to which the evaluation process is held by specialized world experience house.
The Order of Merit is one of the innovative initiatives, derived from the Sports Innovation Lab, arranged by DSC to boost Dubai Sports Strategy 2017 – 2021. The Order of Merit was inspired from the Happiness, Health & Community Factor; aiming to encourage governmental & private schools in Dubai to attain excellence in educational & sports fields and to boost the practice of sport as lifestyle in society.
DSC Board has lauded the Union of Arab Football Associations' decision to name the current edition of the Arab Club Champions Cup “Zayed Club Champions Cup"
H.E. Mattar Al-Tayer stated: “This decision confirms the distinctive status of UAE among Arab countries. It is a recognition for the colossal contributions, made by the UAE Founding Leader in the Arab World".
He added: “The deep-rooted distinctive relations between the two nations in UAE & Saudi Arabia reflect the wonderful cohesion between the peoples and wise leadership in both countries to boost common works, serve Arabian & humanitarian nations & enhance values of tolerance. While all UAE's cities are decorated to celebrate the 88th Anniversary of the Saudi National Day, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in turn celebrates with us the “Year of Zayed. The name of the UAE's Founder is also launched on the top & toughest ever championship of Arab clubs".
Preparations to Host 2019 AFC Asian Cup:
The meeting reviewed the progress of preparatory works to host the 2019 AFC Asian Cup upcoming Jan; top of which are the stadiums development works, held as per top world standards, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality and in coordination with the Higher Organizing Committee of the Championship. The meeting emphasized the importance of completing all measures to host participating teams according to the top quality criteria, which have already become a feature mark for all events taking place in UAE.
It is to be mentioned that the sports sector acquires unlimited support from the wise leadership. The UAE is rich of top qualified local staff and it enjoys well-based sports infrastructure.
The meeting reviewed the financial budget allocated for the sports sector 2019, confirming that the annual budget reflects the keenness of leaders to empower the sports sector to present full national role in order to popularize the culture of the exercise of sport, make sport as lifestyle, scout talents, boost technical levels of local competitions & athletes and enable them to be competent enough to represent UAE in international sports events. Clubs & football companies should utilize their assets and develop resources through investments and enhance partnership with various corporations.
The meeting examined DSC's coordination with clubs & football companies in all fields and confirmed that clubs should adhere to the ratified salaries ceiling and to run works according to DSC's regulations along with technical & organizational rules issued by all respective sports associations. Clubs should present positive roles to develop sports & competitions.
DSC Board has approved that maintenance & renovation works to be carried out in the sports facilities of Al-Wasl Club, comprising the swimming pool, indoor pitch and stadium. The maintenance works target to support the Club and to provide comfortable atmospheres for fans.
DSC Board dealt with reports on the preparatory works to organize the 13th Dubai International Sports Conference under title “Football & Economy" and reviewed names of top guests & speakers who are to address the Conference's sessions & workshops. The Conference has become an international stand to discuss new thoughts and review local, regional & world efforts to develop football as per the Conference's theme & topics of sessions.
Human Resources Pulse:
DSC Board reviewed the Human Resource Pulse Device, designed by DSC's staff. The Device is designed in such innovative way to present 43 smart services, brief time & save efforts. Thanks to this device, only few employees are needed to run operations & provide services.
H.E. Mattar Al-Tayer appreciated the hard efforts, exerted by the respective team, which has designed this device as part of the fruitful diligence to find smart solutions and use artificial smartness to provide services.
DSC reviewed report on works in “Hamdan Sports Complex" and the annual competitions agenda, containing local & international sports social championships and festivals in various sports fields and not only in swimming. Hamdan Sports Complex comprises academies & training centers.
DSC Board confirmed the importance of utilizing this eminent Sports Facility, where several sports events and Olympic competitions take place besides swimming competitions. The Complex exploits solar system and has therefore become eco-friendly.
The meeting reviewed sports events, to be organized in Dubai during the few remaining months of this year; including various competitions & events. The meeting also dealt with several other matters, scheduled in the agenda, and took appropriate decisions with respect to the same.
