H.E. Mattar Al-Tayer Describes Methods of Success for Members of "Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Sports Leadership Development"
H.E. Mater Al-Tayer the Deputy Chairman of Dubai Sports Council described H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum – the Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai – as school from where all classes of society can acquire knowledge, science & experiences in various fields of life. He appreciated the advanced & deep visions of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid. H.E. Al-Tayer tackled the most important parts of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed’s visions in a lecture held Tuesday 26th April 2011 at Midan Hotel, as part of the First Sports Forum for the members of the second group of "Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Sports Leadership Development". H.E. Al-Tayer conveyed the compliments of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai & Chairman of DSC, to the members of the second group of the Program. He urged the Program’s members to be equipped with all knowledge & experiences they are going to gain from the Program’s lectures.
He mentioned that the Program is part of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s directives to support locals / qualify them to assume leading designations in national corporations.
The Program aims to qualify sports leaders in such a professional way that makes them able to develop the sports sector in UAE / manage sports corporations & events. Respective Bodies of the Program act to establish full scientific & mechanical method to qualify sports leaders.
The Deputy Chairman of DSC focused on H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s Phrase: “The real leader is he who shoulders responsibilities, acknowledges mistakes & attributes success to the team”. He referred that word “Team” is mentioned 86 times in H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid's book “My Vision” adding that it is a clear evidence for the importance the teamwork to attain success under a competent leader who is to be able to guide his team’s members to attain promising goals.
H.E. Al-Tayer described "Management" as an art to be influenced with several internal & external factors such as: intuition / surrounding environment / knowledge / practice. Successful leader to act as a guide in his work & behavior and to possess various skills such as: abilities to communicate / adopt suitable decisions / manage dialogues / follow up progress of work / award & encourage others. He added that successful leader should be able to act as a guide for his team's members so that they may follow him. If a person is not followed & his visions are not adopted then he is not a successful leader.
Al-Tayer referred that successful leader is to be keen to work / be equipped with knowledge / commit to rules / find sufficient time to follow up work process & to deal with various affairs of his team’s members.
He explained that “Hawkama Process” is divided into several factors; parts of which are: transparency / fairness / equality / eloquence..etc.
H.E. the Deputy Chairman of DSC stated that loyalty & sincerity are essential to attain success. He said that loyal persons always enjoy high level of education & awareness. He advised group’s members to deal with scientific books & references – top of which is the book under title “My Vision” – in order to enrich knowledge.
Participants raised many questions to Al-Tayer with respect to various matters. Al-Tayer answered all questions based on his personal experiences & long career; the most important of which are: Board Chairman & CEO of RTA / Deputy Chairman of DSC / Chairman of the Executive Office of the DSC / Chairman of the Secretaries’ Council of "H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Creative Sports Award" / Member of Executive Council of Dubai / Board Member of General Authority for Youth & Sport Welfare /Deputy Board Chairman of Al-Nasr Club / Secretary General of UAE Football Association / Director of Youth Football World Cup – 2003 hosted by UAE, taking into consideration that FIFA has classified that particular Championship as the best among other editions of Youth World Cup since the launch of the event 20 years ago.
